Supervised Videoconferencing Visits
During the pandemic, parents were isolated from their children due to public health orders and Access Family Services needed a safe and viable solution for parents and children to stay in contact without violating public health orders, court orders, agreements, etc. We found that by utilizing videoconferencing solutions such as Google Meet, Zoom, and WhatsApp, we were able to offer face to face visits between parents and their children while still providing a safe environment. This is a great alternative to in-person visits when there is an active and enforceable no-contact order or protection order.
Despite everyone participating from the comfort and safety of their own home, our supervisors maintain full control of the visits before, during, and after. Our supervisor is the only person who can allow the parents or children in the "room." One of the advantages of this type of visit is that everything is seen and heard and if anything inappropriate is said, the visiting parent's audio and video can be disabled and if necessary, the supervisor has the capability to shut down the visit immediately.
